Softball Bracelet: A Tutorial

Again, I made this for my husbands anniversary gift. I saw it on Pinterest a while back and pinned it to make for my husband, and totally forgot about it until recently. The person who did it in the post that was pinned used a baseball, but I didn’t realize baseballs were kinda pricey, and I didn’t want to risk ruining it, and not to mention I wasn’t sure it would be long enough to wrap around my husbands wrist. So I decided to go with a softball. My husband plays, and I knew for sure that it would fit, AND it was only about $3 at Modells, so it was perfect. It really couldn’t get easier, and it’s pretty cool if you ask me. My husband isn’t a jewelry wearer, but I feel like this isn’t a typical bracelet, it’s more his style. So I tried it out, and it was actually really easy! As long as you use a sharp Xacto knife, you won’t have any problems.

Here’s my softball (heh heh).

I didn’t want to get too close to the stitches, because I was nervous it would rip. It literally just glided right through. I went around twice, and while pulling it off, I went along the sides with the knife.

Once you have the stitches out, untie the strings on one side about 3 inches, and cut the white away. BE CAREFUL not to cut the strings!!! Tie the strings together, and measure from there how long you want the bracelet to be. Mark it lightly with a pencil. Untie the strings to the marking, and cut the white away. I also cut the string down to about 3 inches .

This part isn’t necessary, but I did it just so the ends wouldn’t fray. Using Elmer’s gel glue, I went around the edges, and used my fingers to smooth it out.

Now, this part is totally necessary. Take the whites you cut off, put them in your mouth, and admire your new pearly whites!!! πŸ™‚

I couldn’t get a picture of the hubs wearing it, as I’m doing all this before our anniversary (and vacation!), but maybe when we get back Β πŸ™‚

I, along with all my followers, would love to see it! πŸ™‚ I’ve started a new page on my blog called “Your Pictures!”, located right next to the “About This Blog!” link at the top of my blog.
